Hey what’s up guys, OSG here, and welcome back to The Amiga Years. This time we’re looking at 1988, and this is where the Amiga really starts to show what it was capable of. After the early years and the arrival of the A500, the library is now getting stronger, sharper and a lot more recognisable. We’re starting to see the kind of games people properly associate with the Amiga — big arcade conversions, slick presentation, classic adventures, great music, bold artwork and that clean 16-bit look that made the machine stand out. In this video, I count down the Top 20 Amiga games of 1988, including Dungeon Master, Bubble Bobble, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, IK+, Hybris, Speedball, F/A-18 Interceptor, Falcon, Ultima IV, Pac-Mania, Battle Chess, Rocket Ranger and more. As always, this countdown is based on Lemon Amiga ratings, votes and weighted score, but with a bit of real-world judgement thrown in too — because numbers are one thing, but some games just mattered more than others.
