Day 1 on STUNNING Outer Hebrides - Vatersay & Barra Vanlife

This time, in our Outer Hebrides road trip, we explore Vatersay and Castlebay on Barra. We need to move pitches on our campsite so we get that sorted before we set off for the day. We stayed at Borve Campsite and highly recommend it. Check out that view! https://www.barracamping.co.uk/ On our way towards Vatersay, we stop at the Castlebay War Memorial. We first saw this on a video from ‪@Roz-Ventures‬ Vatersay is gorgeous especially in such kind weather. You should definitely stop for lunch at the Community Hall. It's a good way to contribute to the local economy - and the sarnies were yummy! We visit the Catalina Memorial. Vey moving... What3Words ///dressing.tender.accusing Hello to Donna and Mike who we met there!! Then it's into Castlebay for a mooch! The ladies in the Heritage Centre were very welcoming. The Catholic church on the hill looked very imposing so we visited Our Lady Star of the Sea, followed by a Guinness at the Craigard Bar. Does anyone know about the missing barrels on the Herring Walk? It's a pity the Kisimul Castle is closed currently (April 2025) but at least we had an amazing curry from Kisimul Bar!! Yum!
