Rendition/Cover of Haan Tu Hai | KK | Jannat (Earphones recommended)

KK was a great singer who died too early. Since his death, I have been rendering one of his songs on every death anniversary. Soon after his demise, I had rendered the song "Zindagi Do Pal Ki..." (   • Rendition/cover of Zindagi Do Pal Ki | Kit...  ) In the description box of that video, I had written at length about this great singer which I am reproducing here: "Thirty first May two thousand twenty two will go down in the history of Indian music industry as a cruel day. A great singer and performer----KK---- passed away on this day just after giving a scintillating performance at the Nazrul Manch auditorium in Kolkata. As reported in the media, there were about six to seven thousand people jam packed in the auditorium which has a seating capacity of about twenty four hundred. Although KK was not feeling well while performing, but true to the rule of the game, he went on with the show and gave his best and mesmerized the crowd although that cost him his life. Great performers go by the maxim: The show must go on... Like Kishore Kumar, Krishnakumar Kunnath or KK as he came to known, did not receive any formal training in music. But that did not in any way prove to be a hurdle for this versatile singer. His first big break in Bollywood----"Tadap tadap ke is din" composed by Ismail Darbar----was a raga based song of classical genre which KK rendered so beautifully that it has become a milestone. Speaking about KK's voice Mahesh Bhatt said, "KK had an emotional bandwidth which echoed all the seasons of the heart. He could be frivolous, romantic and anguished. He could go into the depths, talk about the wonder and magic of life." The Malyali boy, raised in Delhi, was a class of his own. He did not imitate any of the greats although he was a great fan of Kishore Kumar. His tonal quality, pitch and throw of voice were unique which took a song to a different level. What I find very interesting about his voice was that like in Kishore Kumar's voice, there was an inherent reverb in it. This is why when he sang without music or at live shows without any effect, the songs sounded like the recorded ones. This placed KK far ahead of his contemporaries...It will be impossible to fill the void created due to the sudden demise of this ever-smiling, ever-youthful singer...a singer who was the torch bearer of pure melody in Bollywood from late nineties to the two decades of the 21st century. He will always be present with us through his evergreen numbers." On KK's 4th death anniversary, I am rendering his beautiful number "Haan Tu Hai..." as my tribute to this great singer.
