Kenyan street food is some of the most underrated food in Africa — and I went straight into the heart of Nairobi to find out why. No restaurants, no menus. Just vendors, streets, and whatever was cooking. Nairobi is famous for its vibrant energy, and the best way to experience it is through the local food scene. I headed out to a bustling Nairobi market to grab some of the most popular quick bites, from crispy fried chicken to savoury sausages and fresh fruit salads. It is a candid look at how people in the city connect over a meal. In this Kenyan street food tour I walk through Nairobi, stop at vendor after vendor, and eat what people actually eat here every day. I talk to the vendors, ask them what to try, and eat my way through the city's busiest food streets. Some of it I'd order again tomorrow. Some of it genuinely surprised me.If you're visiting Nairobi, or you just want to see what street food in Kenya really looks like, this is the food you should know before you go. If you are curious about what a typical lunch looks like, this walk gives you an honest look at the culture and the flavours of authentic African street food. We talk to the locals, share a few laughs, and show you exactly what to expect when you wander into one of these lively spots to grab a bite. Kenyan street food is defined by its simplicity and bold flavours, and I wanted to see how it compares to other travels. 👉 Subscribe to Citizen's Trek for more travel and food stories from across Africa — new videos every week.
