We Cut Open a 1960s Pond Dam — What Was Holding It Together Should NOT Have Worked

A pond dam built in the nineteen sixties with a rented dragline, no layers, no cleared foundation and a rusted pipe was cut open from the crown to the original ground. This video walks the cut layer by layer: the dumped dirt on top, the buried sod and cedar stumps, the ribbon of gray clay nobody planned, the corrugated pipe past its service life and the mud skin on the wet face.
