Yoga Nidra for non-dual awareness, self-inquiry, and deep relaxation. This guided meditation is inspired by the Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad and uses the image of a spider and its web to explore the relationship between oneness, separation, Brahman or the self, and the many forms of experience.

11Hz binaural beats are used as a subtle background layer to support a calm, steady meditative atmosphere. Headphones are recommended for the full binaural effect.
You do not need any background in Yoga philosophy, Advaita Vedanta, or the Upanishads to follow this practice. The meditation begins with relaxation and gradually introduces the image of a luminous spider creating an entire web from a single thread. Every strand has a different shape, position, and purpose, yet all are made from the same underlying substance.
From there, the inquiry turns toward your own experience —body, mind, thought, sensation, space, and time. These appear different, but do their differences necessarily mean they exist as completely separate realities?
This Yoga Nidra is not about pretending that everything is the same or denying ordinary differences. Instead, it invites you to look beneath names and forms and explore whether separation exists as deeply as it first appears.
As the contemplation deepens, the spider and web become a doorway into the Upaniṣadic idea of Brahman: not a distant creator outside the universe, but the underlying reality in which all forms appear.
Practically, this meditation can support deep relaxation, steadier attention, perspective on habitual thought, subtle self-inquiry, and a less rigid sense of separation between self and experience.
Use this practice for Yoga Nidra, non-dual meditation, Advaita Vedanta contemplation, Upanishadic self-inquiry, deep relaxation, and awareness practice.
Practise somewhere safe and comfortable. Do not listen while driving or doing anything that requires your full attention.
