Victoria Azarenka DEFENDS Coco Gauff After Controversial China Open Incident

Coco Gauff's controversial China Open victory over Sun Xinran has sparked a major debate, but former world number one Victoria Azarenka has now come to Gauff's defense. The controversy centered on a video review after Gauff claimed flashing LED screens had distracted her during a crucial point. The umpire ordered the point to be replayed, Gauff won it, and she eventually defeated 16-year-old Sun Xinran 7-5, 6-1. But the incident became much bigger after Xinran struggled emotionally and Gauff faced heavy criticism and unacceptable social media abuse. In this Tennis Desk breakdown, we look at Azarenka's comments, the video review controversy, Gauff's upcoming match against Elise Mertens, her possible route through the China Open draw, and her recent head-to-head records against Iga Swiatek, Iva Jovic, Elina Svitolina, and Mirra Andreeva. Was Coco Gauff right to request the review? Should the rules surrounding video challenges be changed? And can Gauff go all the way in Beijing? Watch until the end and share your opinion in the comments.
