In our second episode recorded in Paris, together with our partner EDL, we speak with David Corcos. He was CEO of Philips France for seven years and later led Philips’ imaging business across Europe. Two years ago he moved from industry to the provider side.
He now leads Groupe Résonance Imagerie, a network of 65 imaging centers in northern France owned by 130 radiologists.
Topics in this episode:
Growth led by radiologists: How Groupe Résonance Imagerie became one of France’s five largest radiology groups. David explains why giving physicians a stake in the company is a strong alternative to private equity ownership.
Regulation in France and Germany: In France, every MRI and CT scanner requires government authorization, and Germany has roughly four times as many MRI units.
David describes how this regulation affects market access and consolidation.
Mobile MRI units: Each unit alternates between two sites to extend care into rural areas, and utilization is close to full.
One IT platform for 65 centers: The group is moving from four RIS systems to one RIS and PACS (Xplore by EDL) within a year. This creates the foundation for AI tools such as DeepHealth and for report automation.
The future of radiology: Demand keeps rising while radiologists’ time stays limited. David explains why AI and automation will be key to closing that gap.
This episode is for anyone interested in consolidation, regulation and digital transformation in European radiology.
