At the ECWA College of Nursing Sciences in Nigeria, students are training to become the nation’s future nurses. They study long hours, driven by the hope of building a stable future in a country facing deep economic hardship. But many are going through college with only one meal a day. A single day of meals in the school cafeteria costs N3,000 (US$1.94).* But, for a student with no income and parents already struggling to pay school fees, daily meals are often out of reach.
