Systemic TMJ is deeply misunderstood. Whether you came to this video searching for TMJ or you have a diagnosis of dystonia, these three things will revolutionize how you approach the problem and empower you to turn this around. Shmuel has made all the mistakes — wrong appliances, wrong practitioners, wrong people. He spent tens of thousands of dollars chasing saviors in Korea, the US, and Canada. His health was so severely compromised that he could barely get out of bed. Now he can speak, chew, walk for hours, and kayak. In this video, he shares the three things you must know: This is not an engineering problem. You cannot solve it by going from appliance to appliance, looking for the magical position that will allow the jaw to finally let go. The patterns of tension that prevent you from finding that position are the real issue. You need to learn to map your cranial nerves — all 12 pairs, not just the fifth cranial nerve in the jaw — and find sovereignty in guiding your own recovery from the inside out. This is a systemic problem. It doesn't live only in the jaw. It involves the neck, the upper cervical vertebrae, how you hold your head over your shoulders, how you breathe, and how your autonomic nervous system regulates your body in response to your environment. You cannot address the jaw in isolation — the whole system needs to move toward balance. This is fundamentally about connecting with yourself. Not believing a new method. Not trusting a new savior. Learning to listen to your own body, finding that agency and sovereignty, so that you can guide the process of healing and build a new organization in your nervous system that allows you to get your life back. On October 4th, Shmuel is hosting a free workshop on the cranial nerves where you'll go through a cranial nerve mapping practice live — directly relevant to everything in this video. About Hope for Dystonia: Founded by Shmuel, who recovered from severe systemic TMJ, dystonia, and trigeminal neuralgia himself — and has guided hundreds of others since 2019. The Self Healers Academy is a structured recovery path built on three things: a self-paced course, live coaching, and a community of people who understand.
