Spend a minute with the sunrise on the Pacific Flyway before we set off to enjoy the various wildlife on view today! I've been keeping my eye on this camera for a while and wanted to share some of the highlights from this morning. This stream features wonderful highlight clips that rotate through in the evenings and early mornings, showing us exactly what this camera has to offer! 🌾 💡💡 DID YOU KNOW? ❓ Greater White-fronted Geese are famous for having incredibly strong family bonds. Unlike many other waterfowl, parents and their young will stay together for an entire year. They migrate south together from their northern breeding grounds in Alaska and spend the whole winter side-by-side in places like the Sacramento Valley until the next nesting season arrives! Learn more from Cornell All About Birds: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/G... You might hear locals or seasoned birdwatchers in California refer to these birds as "specklebellies" or simply as "Tule Geese." That popular regional nickname comes from the massive tule rushes—a tall, thick freshwater marsh plant—that blanket the Sacramento Valley wetlands where these beautiful flocks love to spend their winters! 🌾🪶 ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: • 0:00 - Sunrise and sounds of local birds as a Great Egret arrives from the right 🌅 • 1:00 - Great Egret catching fish in the marshy brown vegetation 🐟 • 5:44 - Close-up of the Egret standing beside Greater White-fronted Geese on a raised levee bank • 7:16 - Elegant Black-necked Stilts fly by • 7:25 - Nice close-up of the Greater White-fronted Geese (Thank you, camera operator!) • 8:26 - White-faced Ibis aggressively foraging along the grassy shoreline Thank you to the dedicated volunteer camera operators at explore.org for tracking this beautiful action live! 🌅 🌿 ABOUT THIS CAMERA: Explore one of the most vital links in the Pacific Flyway.
