On September 21, 1955, James Dean drove a brand new silver Porsche 550 Spyder off a Los Angeles dealer's lot. Race number 130 on the nose. "Little Bastard" painted across the tail. Nine days later, on September 30, it met a Ford turning across Route 46 near Cholame, California, and Dean was killed instantly. The wreck was put on a traveling highway safety exhibit so young drivers could see what speed does. Then in 1960, while being shipped back to the West Coast, it reportedly vanished from a sealed railroad boxcar. Chassis 550-0055 has never been seen in public since. In 2005 a museum in Illinois offered a $1 million reward for it. Nobody has ever collected. And this isn't even the only death car that was supposed to disappear.
