Ten classic American cars. All sold at auction for under $10,000. One of them is a V8 Corvette.
A 1956 Buick Roadmaster sold for $5,600, and it still didn't make this list. A Lincoln Town Car went for $1,800, fees included. Then you read the listing.
Between August 2024 and July 2026, under ten grand bought a Motor Trend Car of the Year, a Cadillac whose bodies were flown from Italy to Detroit on Boeing 747s, and a Corvette so dominant on the racetrack that it got pushed out of its racing class. Every car on this list had evidence it was running and driving when it sold.
But cheap isn't the same as a bargain. Each one has a weak spot you need to know about before you bid.
What's inside:
→ The Motor Trend Car of the Year with a surprise under the hood
→ The small plastic part that can wreck a Lincoln's transmission
→ The Corvette flaw that shows up again later in the list
→ A Pontiac with its engine behind the seats, and the fire recall that followed
→ The Buick that had to grow 11 inches to win buyers back
→ The Cadillac built on two continents
→ A family wagon with a Corvette-derived V8, and the towing fine print
→ The $1,800 Lincoln, and why cheap isn't always cheap
→ Three checks that catch most problems before you bid

Which one would you put in your driveway, and which one would you never touch? Tell me in the comments.
These ten got cheap. Some American cars had it worse: they were nearly forgotten. Watch next:

About the prices: the ten featured cars' prices are winning bids from auctions between August 2024 and July 2026. Buyer's fees are extra unless noted. They're single sales, not market averages, and past results don't predict future prices. Nothing here is financial advice. Have any car inspected before you buy it.
