From Behind the Scenes to the Page and the Stage: Laura Bergman on Becoming a Writer in Midlife

Laura Bergman spent almost forty years raising money for other people's art. On Sexy in Your 60s with Dvora Citron, she talks about finally making her own. Her mother told her she wasn't meant to perform. Decades later, she wrote her own piece and took the stage. Laura is a retired arts nonprofit leader, a performer with the Menopause Monologues, and the author of the forthcoming memoir Waiting for Miles. We talk about how a board seat turned into a stage, the true stories behind her piece "Menopause Showdown," what she had to let go of to perform, how a short story about adopting her son became a book, and why she tells every would-be writer to write for the fun of it.
