Continuing my Assetto Corsa Rally v0.6 Rally Events medal hunt, this time with the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 on Sisteron - St. Geniez for another Time Attack challenge.
And this run is a perfect example of how quickly rallying can turn from great to disaster.
The first two sectors went really well.
I was pushing hard, enjoying the car and deliberately sliding it through several hairpins.
Then Sector 3 started.
And almost everything changed.
🔥 Strong Start - First Two Sectors Felt Great
The opening part of the stage was exactly what I wanted.
The Fabia felt strong, predictable and easy to push.
I was attacking the hairpins, using plenty of road and carrying good speed through the technical sections.
There were several cuts in the first sector, but interestingly they only caused some cosmetic damage to the front lip.
Mechanically, the car was still fine.
That made what happened next even more surprising.
💥 Compression Damage - Almost Everything Breaks
At the beginning of Sector 3, I hit a compression over what looked like a relatively small bump.
The result was massive.
Suddenly the car had damage to:
Steering
Suspension
Turbo
Bodywork
Other major components
What felt strange was the contrast.
Heavy cuts earlier in the run caused almost nothing beyond cosmetic damage.
Then one compression over a small bump caused major mechanical damage.
From that point onward, the challenge changed completely.
⚙️ Damaged Turbo and Steering
The damaged turbo cost me around 40 km/h of performance, which made the rest of the stage much slower.
The steering was also no longer precise.
Instead of attacking corners cleanly, I had to constantly compensate for the damaged car and try to keep it pointing in the right direction.
At that stage, the goal was no longer a fast run.
It was simply to survive and somehow still make the Gold target.
🌲 Final Corner - One More Hit
By the last corner, the damage had also changed the shape and behavior of the car.
The body was wider, the steering was imprecise, and I was briefly checking whether I was still going to make the Gold time after losing so much speed from the turbo damage.
That small lapse in focus was enough.
I clipped a branch, which tore off the front-right fender.
One final piece of drama before the finish.
🥇 Gold - Just in Time
Thanks to the strong pace from the first two sectors, I had built enough margin to survive all of the problems.
Even with the damaged steering, suspension, turbo and bodywork, I still managed to cross the line just inside the Gold requirement.
Not pretty.
Not clean.
But enough.
And honestly, this is probably one of the most fitting runs for my motto.

🏁 Conclusion
This run definitely did not go according to plan.
The first two sectors were fast, fun and full of commitment.
Then one compression changed the entire challenge.
The car went from healthy to heavily damaged almost instantly.
Steering.
Suspension.
Turbo.
Bodywork.
And then one final branch took the front-right fender at the last corner.
But the pace from the first two sectors was enough.
Gold secured - just in time.
This video is a good reminder that not every rally run needs to be perfect.
Sometimes the real challenge is simply refusing to give up when everything starts going wrong.
Sisteron - St. Geniez. Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
A damaged car.
A shrinking margin.
And still a Gold medal.
Never Give Up.
