I've never built a video game. I'm a UI/UX designer, and I had a pile of spare AI tokens, so I started building Little Lines: a cozy, transit-first city builder where you draw bus and train lines and your cities grow on their own.
Think Mini Motorways meets LEGO Skylines, minus the stress. No plopping every building, no micromanaging traffic. You connect places, and the city fills in around your transit.
This is day one, 24 hours in. In this episode:
• The first prototype: drawing bus and train lines and watching cities grow
• Going low-poly: three art directions (A, B, C) and the B2 merge I picked
• A house variety mockup and a scale study (true scale vs. selective compression vs. toy exaggeration)
• The hard part: pathfinding, train bottlenecks, and why I can't reuse bus stops yet
• The Experiments Hub I built to track 20+ variants and every decision
I'm building this with Claude Code and other AI models (Fable, Opus, Astra), and I'll post the progress every day or two. Tell me in the comments what you'd want to see in a game like this. I'm reading everything.
