Break Them Again After 60, the book for the shooter who thinks he's slowing down (where to look on every trap post and skeet station, drawn the way your eye sees it; that is not in the videos): https://angeloclays.netlify.app/?b=2&v=wro... See the red X on the end of that man's gun? That is where his eyes are, and a clay he used to break in his sleep is getting away. The wrong thing is not one thing. It is three, and most of us only hear about the first. One rule answers all three: watch the front edge until it breaks. "Most" means most of the men who come to my stand; nobody has counted. "Italian coaches" means two men: me, and Aldo, the old keeper of a small country ground in the hills outside Siena. I promise no score. In this video (American trap from the sixteen-yard line, right-handed; from the left shoulder, mirror it): 1. How small "watching" really is: one thumb at arm's length 2. The first wrong thing: the bead, for one moment after the call 3. The second: "the whole clay". Which part? The front edge, a place the size of a coin, and how it changes sides on posts one, three and five 4. Three small things for older eyes, in flat light too 5. The third wrong thing: the bead again, in the last instant, when the gun arrives beside the clay Then the fourth thing: what a coach watches while you shoot, with an experiment from two thousand eleven behind it. Things to try at home with empty hands and no gun: the thumb and the clock, the rim of something round, the front wheel of passing cars from your chair, and the fist and the finger. I'm Angelo. I was raised in the hills of Siena and I have spent my life on a small Tuscan shooting ground, first shooting and then teaching the older members of the club. Angelo is a digital presenter: the character and the voice in these videos are made with AI tools. THE BOOKS It's Not Your Eyes ($27) · Break Them Again After 60 ($47) · The Complete Eyes First Collection ($97: both books plus The Slow Clay Secret, which comes only in the collection) https://angeloclays.netlify.app/?b=2&v=wro... THE EYES FIRST CLUB Every week, one target: where your eyes wait and where they look, drawn the way your eye sees it, with a short slow video and a big-print page for your shooting bag. First 7 days free, then $9.90 a month. Cancel anytime. https://angeloclays.netlify.app/club/?v=wr... Borrow a pair of eyes tonight: no gun in the room, someone watches your eyes while you point at the clock. Did your eyes stay, or did they drop? Stayed, or dropped. Write that one word in the comments, with your age. Mentioned in the video: Perception (1991): the width of a thumb at arm's length, measured on 118 students. https://doi.org/10.1068/p200415 Barry Hartmann, NSSA master-level instructor, "Hartmann's Hint #55: Look at the Target" (2018): https://nssa-nsca.org/blog/2018/09/09/hart... Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (2010): the eyes of elite and sub-elite shotgun shooters in skeet, trap and double trap. https://doi.org/10.1249/mss.0b013e3181d1b059 Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (2011): skeet shooters shown video of their own eyes. https://doi.org/10.1249/mss.0b013e3182035de6 Experimental Brain Research (1994): how the eyes follow a small moving target from age 18 to 89. https://doi.org/10.1007/bf00228423 American Optometric Association, on needing more light with age; National Eye Institute, on dilated eye exams from sixty. These were small studies, mostly with elite shooters, not club shooters past sixty. No study can tell you what you will score. A word of care: this video is general shooting instruction, not medical or eye-care advice, and nothing here is a promise. It is about where you put the eyes you have, not about seeing better. If your sight has changed, see your eye doctor first and say that you shoot. Follow the safety rules of your club and your range officer at all times. The home drills in this video use no gun: never do the "borrowed eyes" check with a gun, open or not, and nobody ever stands in front of one. Watch the cars only from your chair, never when you drive. Stay inside what is comfortable for your shoulder. #trapshooting #clayshooting #shotgun
