Sunday by Lake Pontchartrain ☀️🎺 Nobody came for a concert. Somebody brought a cornet anyway. And that was enough. On a clear Sunday afternoon, a group of friends leaves New Orleans behind for a quiet picnic beside Lake Pontchartrain. They bring coffee, bread, apples, sandwiches and a blanket for the grass. Someone also brings a cornet. Then Charlie arrives with his clarinet. A banjo appears beside the picnic table. A tuba is resting beneath the tree. Nobody planned a band. But before long, an ordinary Sunday picnic has turned into an afternoon of music by the water. Sunday by Lake Pontchartrain is a 12-track journey inspired by late-1920s New Orleans jazz and early Dixieland — cornet, clarinet, trombone, tenor banjo, acoustic tuba, piano and early jazz rhythm. There is no stage and no audience in this story. Just old friends, simple food, a breeze off the lake and a few instruments that everybody claims they brought... “just in case.” And when the last tune is over?
