Serenje Kalindula Band - Ibuku Lyamfwa - Full Zambian Single (Lamba, 1986)

Zambian Music records posted on Tuesdays and Fridays! The Serenji Kalindula Band provides this recording from their single, Ibuku Lyamfwa. The record is a little noisy, but the music shines through. The Serenje Kalindula Band has a long a storied history. Starting out with their founding in the Zambian town of Serenje in the late 1970s, their first album, Amanyamune, was released in 1979 under the Zambia Music Parlour label. Band members included Syman Kasaba, George Sombaso, Patson Chisenga, Hyden Chibakola, Robinson, Kasonda and Victor Shakwenda. The band established themselves as a popular Kalindula band that mixed Lively Kalindula tunes with the dance rhythms of the Lala people who lived in the Serenje area. They would continue to be a solid Kalindula act throughout the 80's releasing a number of singles and four more albums into the 1990's. According to Zambian music historian Leonard Koloko, the band did not survive the 90's with the failure of the Zambian recording industry. Sadly, many of the band members were victims of the AIDS epidemic, and none remain alive today. 00:00 Ibuku Lyamfwa Part 1 04:02 Ibuku Lyamfwa Part 2 Kalimba (Teal Records) ZUKA 151 1986 DISCLAIMER: All music uploaded to this channel is shared with the intention of preserving rare out of print recordings and making them available to audiences who might otherwise never have an opportunity to experience the artists and their performances.
