I've always thought that when you care about someone, you naturally want to make room for them in your life. You find time, make plans, and look forward to the little things you can do together. So it's disappointing when you realize that the person beside you seems happy to have you around, but rarely makes the same effort. That's where Cheap Love comes from. It starts with familiar things. Talking about the future, making plans, enjoying a meal together or simply spending time in each other's company. There's affection, there's the promise of something more, and for a while, you have every reason to believe you're building something together. Then you begin to notice how rarely those plans become reality unless you take the initiative. You find the time, make the arrangements and try to move things forward, while the other person seems perfectly content with the way things are. At some point, you realize that being needed and being loved aren't necessarily the same thing. What bothers me most about that kind of relationship is how easily your willingness to give becomes something the other person takes for granted. You keep offering your time and attention because you care, while the other person seems to assume you'll always be available. Eventually, even the simplest things you'd hoped to share begin to feel like something you have to ask for. Musically, I wanted to give that feeling a rhythm and energy of its own. A soft, airy voice, with long, flowing notes and an almost whispered delivery, carries a warm melodic line built around layered synthesizers and evolving arpeggios. Fast, fluid Drum & Bass breaks at 174 BPM drive the track forward, with rolling snares, lively rhythmic variations and occasional Dubstep passages featuring deep bass growls and heavier halftime sections. One of my favorite details is how the delicate vocal melody continues to flow through the more intense instrumental passages. I wanted to preserve that contrast, which has become an important part of the Pux Fila sound, without losing the warmth of the original melodic idea. Cheap Love is my take on a familiar disappointment, told with a little more rhythm than sadness. Lyrics: We used to talk of days to come Of little things we'd like to do But all those plans were left undone I was the one who followed through Cheap love, you only needed me To keep the lonely nights away But did you ever stop to see How little love you had to pay You liked to have me by your side To share a meal or pass the day But when I asked for more, you'd hide And find a way to drift away Cheap love, you only needed me To keep the lonely nights away But did you ever stop to see How little love you had to pay I guess we wanted different things I had a place for you in mind You liked the peace a lover brings But had no plans to share your time
