This week I leave Italy behind and head somewhere I've never visited before – Slovenia. After a quick stop in Grado, it's time to cross the border, buy my first Slovenian vignette and see what all the fuss is about. It doesn't take long before I'm spotting huge lizards, standing with one foot in Slovenia and the other in Croatia, and discovering some incredible scenery. Eventually I find a campsite right beside the beautiful Kolpa River, where I spend the next couple of days swimming, floating downstream and simply enjoying one of the most relaxing places I've visited on this trip. Throw in some friendly locals, a fantastic trout dinner and a campsite so good I decide to stay an extra day, and it turns into one of my favourite weeks of the journey so far.
