India's own satellite navigation system, NavIC, is back to the four working satellites it needs to fix a position by itself, ISRO says, after GSLV-F18 launched NVS-03 from Sriharikota at 11:51 pm IST on Fri 30 Oct 2026. Why NavIC fell to three satellites in March (an atomic clock failure), why clocks matter so much, the orbit-raising step that failed for NVS-02 and what ISRO changed, how NavIC compares with GPS, and what it means for your phone, fishing boats and trains. NVS-03 still has to raise its orbit and be tested before it enters service. Facts as of the morning of 31 Oct 2026 (IST).
