It was originally spoken by Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) at Samye Monastery and hidden as a spiritual treasure (terma). It was later revealed by the 19th-century treasure revealer Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa as the core outer practice of the Lamé Tukdrup Barché Künsel cycle.
