The NEW OPERATOR Of The 258 EXPLAINED (RATP - Metroline) Transferred Ex 190 Gemini 2s & Route 153

On the 1st of February 2025, Metroline began running London bus route 258. The 258 was previously operated by RATP, London United. Wright Gemini 2s from 2010 and 2011 are the new allocation of the 258. Some Metroline Enviro400s from 2012 are also being used. These will be replaced by newer diesels in the future. Route 258's weekend frequency has now increased. The route now runs every 20 minutes on Sundays. Under RATP, the 258 was allocated diesel ADL Enviro400s from 2012. A few Enviro400s from 2011, 2013 and 2014 were also used. The RATP E400s from 2012 have now been withdrawn. Route 258 ran from Park Royal (RP) garage under RATP. The route now runs from Harrow Weald (HD). Route 258's current contract with Metroline will last until 2028. The Gemini 2s currently used on route 258 have transferred from Brentford (AH). They were used on routes 190, 237, E2 and E8. And were replaced by Enviro200 MMCs on route 190. Route 258 runs from Watford Junction Station, To South Harrow Bus Station. The route runs via Watford Town Centre, Watford High Street Station, Bushey Station, The Red Lion Public House, The Royal Oak Public House, Harrow College, Harrow Weald Bus Garage, The Wealdstone Centre, Harrow & Wealdstone Station, Harrow Bus Station for Harrow-on-the-Hill Station, Harrow Town Centre and Roxeth Hill. Route 258 runs every 15 to 30 minutes. The route runs from 05:30 until 00:30. Route 258 is 8 miles (13km) long. The route has a peak vehicle requirement of 11 diesel double decker buses. A full journey on route 258 takes 40 to 75 minutes. Route 258 commenced operation on the 30th of October 1971. The route originally ran between Watford Junction and Harrow-on-the-Hill. The 258 ran from Mondays to Saturdays until 1996, when a Sunday service was introduced. The 258 replaced the withdrawn section of route 182 between Harrow Weald and Watford Junction. The 258 was originally ran from Harrow Weald (HD). On the 22nd of April 1978, route 258 was extended to South Harrow Station replacing route 114. On the 14th of November 1987, the route was rerouted to run via Harrow School instead to replace part of route 136. On the 19th of January 1991, route 258 passed to Luton & District. On the 3rd of July 1993, the evening service was extended to South Harrow. In 1996, the 258 passed to London Buslines and then CentreWest. In January 2001, the route was converted to double deck operation. On the 4th of February 2006, the route passed to Arriva The Shires. Route 258 passed to RATP on the 30th of September 2017. The route originally ran from London Sovereign's Edgware (BT) garage, which is much closer than Park Royal (RP). Route 258 is currently on a short term diversion, lasting until February 2025. The route is not serving two stops in Harrow Town Centre. Route 258 connects to several rail lines, including... Route 258 connects to two Superloop express routes. Route SL9 connects to the 258 at Harrow Bus Station and in South Harrow, And route SL10 connects to the 258 at Harrow Bus Station.
