Game Show

“Game Show” for piano solo, 2025. Originally I called it simply “Theme and Variations”, but I thought that a bit stodgy. But it is essential to understand its form and its character. That character is very much involved in the piece’s odd hesitations. It is as though the pianist’s hands are hanging over the keys, frozen for a moment, before going on. This effect is most obvious in the first two pages or so. A performance with a dancer, demonstrating those frozen moments, would be nice.
