Learning to Treat Myself Better Without Feeling Guilty Sometimes, learning to treat yourself better starts with something small - a good breakfast, a little time outside, or visiting a place you've never taken the time to explore. In this video, join me for a solo day in Mumbai, India, as I step away from my usual routine of job applications, reading, and editing videos to explore the city, discover art and history, and learn to enjoy my own company while figuring life out. Living away from family has taught me many small life lessons. And as I navigate a career transition and an uncertain phase of life, I'm slowly learning that taking care of myself doesn't have to come with guilt. 🍃 A SOLO DAY IN MUMBAI, INDIA My day begins with breakfast at Aram Vada Pav, an iconic Maharashtrian eatery, where I enjoy traditional Indian breakfast favorites: Poha (flattened rice), Vada pav (Indian burger) with green coriander-mint chutney and dry garlic chutney, and a refreshing glass of kokum sharbat. After that, I stop at a church for a quiet moment, grab some sugarcane juice, and head to one of Mumbai's most fascinating cultural destinations. 🏛️ EXPLORING CSMVS MUSEUM, MUMBAI The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, is a major museum in South Mumbai featuring art, archaeology, cultural heritage, and natural history. I explore its galleries and discover objects and stories from different civilizations, religions, artistic traditions, and periods of history. Some of the highlights from my museum visit include: Tibetan and Buddhist Art Ancient Indian History Hindu Art and Sculptures Buddhist Sculptures Traditional Indian Art Indian Cultural Heritage World History and Ancient Civilizations Natural History Museum Gallery Stone Age – Journey Through Time One of the most interesting parts of this visit was realizing that museums aren't only for artists, historians, or people who already know a lot about the past. Sometimes, simply walking around, observing, and discovering something new can make an ordinary day feel meaningful. 🧠 CAN VISITING A MUSEUM HELP YOUR MENTAL WELL-BEING? During my visit, I reflect on how exploring museums, historical sites, and cultural spaces can offer a break from everyday worries. I also discuss a museum-prescription initiative associated with the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lille in France and a local university hospital. Sometimes, giving your mind something new to explore is a small but valuable way to step away from the same thoughts and routines. 💰 CSMVS MUSEUM TICKET PRICE & CAMERA FEE Here is what I paid during my visit: Museum entry ticket: ₹250 (approximately US2.63/€2.36/£1.98/C3.69 / A$3.74) Camera fee: ₹500 (approximately US5.26/€4.72/£3.95/C7.38 / A$7.48) Total cost: ₹750 (approximately US7.90/€7.08/£5.93/C11.07 / A$11.22) Please check the official website before planning your visit: https://www.csmvs.in/visit-us.html 📍 ENDING THE DAY AT MUMBAI'S ICONIC LANDMARKS I'm learning that even when life doesn't go as planned, I can still explore new places, enjoy little things, and make meaningful memories. If you're also going through a period of change, starting over, living alone, or trying to find joy in everyday life, I hope this video feels like spending a little time with a friend. ________ About Surbhi in India; a channel about ordinary, real daily life in India.
