BROKEN SAINTS — WHAT'S LEFT OF ME What’s Left of Me is a track from After the Fall, the debut album by Broken Saints, a fictional band created exclusively for the novel Vertigem. Album: After the Fall Track: What’s Left of Me Artist: Broken Saints I could leave tonight. No goodbye. No explanation. Just gone. I could walk out tonight, leave the keys on the table, tell the label I'm finished, tell the world I'm unstable, let the cameras keep flashing, let them write what they want, let them bury my name with the man that I was. I don't need another record, another headline, another reason to stand underneath these lights and pretend I'm still breathing, everybody wants a piece, everybody wants the story, nobody wants the nights, nobody wants the fucking glory. They see the money. They see the stage. They see the face on every fucking page. They don't see me when the room goes black, when I take off the smile and the memories attack. I could throw away the guitar. I could burn every song. I could tell myself I'm better if I finally move on. But then— Who the fuck am I when the music is gone? When the room goes dark, when the crowd disappears, when there's nothing left but the voice in my ears... I hear it again. I hear it again. WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? When the lights go out, when there's no one to see. WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? Take the stage away— WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? Oh-oh-oh, WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? Oh-oh-oh, WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? Left of me. Left of me. WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? Left of me. Left of me. WHAT'S LEFT OF ME? So tell me what happens if I shut it all down, if I leave this fucking city, if I never come around, if I cancel every show, every tour, every flight, if I lock myself inside and disappear overnight. Would the world keep spinning? Yeah, probably. Would anybody notice? Yeah, probably. They'd replace me in a week, put another face on the screen, another voice, another tragedy, another fucking machine. And maybe that's the point. Maybe that's the joke. I spent my whole life trying not to choke. Built a kingdom out of pain, put my name across the walls, now I'm standing at the top and I don't feel anything at all. They say, "You're alive." Like that's enough. Like waking up means I've had it rough. I know how to perform. I know how to lie. I know how to smile when I wanna fucking die— But I don't know how to quit. Maybe I don't need the noise. Maybe I don't need the fame. Maybe I just need to know there's something left beneath my name. Because if I quit the music, if I walk away tonight... I don't know if I disappear— OR FINALLY COME ALIVE. Don't tell me to quit. I WON'T. Don't tell me it's over. IT'S NOT. Don't tell me I'm broken. I KNOW. Turn the fucking speakers up— LET'S GO! One more night. One more song. One more reason to keep moving on. I SAID ONE MORE! ONE MORE! ONE MORE! ©️ Broken Saints / Vertigem Fictional band created exclusively for the novel Vertigem.
