How does A24 actually make money? Not by selling films. We analyzed 109 A24 theatrical releases from 2015 onward, across 17 production countries. Median production budget: $8M. Median worldwide gross: $2,084,628. That is 0.26x of the budget recovered in cinemas, and the median Metacritic score across the same set is 76. The typical A24 film does not recover its cost in cinemas. That is not the model failing. That is the model. This episode is about what the label is really selling, where the money is actually made, and what an independent producer can take from it.
