What Right Has My Beloved? | God's Warning to Judah | Jeremiah 11:15–17 | Christian Scripture Song
Can religious worship please God when the heart refuses to turn from sin?
“What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many?” — Jeremiah 11:15 (KJV)
“What Right Has My Beloved?” draws from God's solemn warning to Judah through the prophet Jeremiah. The people had turned to false gods, yet continued to rely on their place in God's house and their religious offerings.
The Lord challenged their confidence in outward worship while they persisted in covenant unfaithfulness.
SCRIPTURE FOUNDATION
Jeremiah 11:1–17 — Judah breaks God's covenant, turns to other gods, and faces judgment despite its religious identity and practices.
Jeremiah 11:15–17 — God questions His unfaithful people's presence in His house and announces judgment using the image of an olive tree.
Jeremiah 7:8–11 — God rebukes those who trust deceptive words and treat His temple as protection while continuing in sin.
Isaiah 1:11–17 — God rejects worship that accompanies wrongdoing and calls His people to repent and seek justice.
John 14:15 — Jesus says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
THE MESSAGE
Judah's problem was not a lack of religious activity. The people continued to approach God's house while embracing practices that contradicted His commands.
Jeremiah's warning exposes the danger of treating worship, offerings, or religious identity as substitutes for faithfulness to the Lord.
God's judgment was not arbitrary. His people had repeatedly rejected the covenant and turned toward false worship, even after receiving His warnings.
This passage calls us to examine our own hearts.
Are we listening to God's Word or merely going through religious motions?
Are we confessing sin and turning from it, or using outward displays of devotion to conceal disobedience?
Are we following Jesus Christ as Lord, or simply claiming His name?
Salvation cannot be earned through religious performance. It is received by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And genuine faith calls us to repentance, obedience, and daily dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
May this song encourage reverence for God's holiness, humility before His Word, and sincere devotion rather than empty appearances.
