President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria has moved beyond the most difficult phase of its economic reforms as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary. In his national broadcast, Tinubu compared the pre-2023 economy to a cancer patient and defended the removal of fuel subsidies as painful measures needed to correct longstanding economic problems. He pointed to 2026 economic growth, improved foreign exchange stability, and stronger non-oil exports as signs of progress, while acknowledging that many Nigerians still face cost-of-living pressures. Tinubu says the next phase will focus on lowering living costs through agricultural mechanisation, transport infrastructure, student loans, consumer credit and targeted support. The State House has separately reported second-quarter 2026 GDP growth of 4.43 per cent and described the administration's next priority as translating stronger economic performance into improved household outcomes SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel:    / newscentraltvafrica   for more videos Follow News Central on: Facebook:   / newscentralafrica   Twitter:   / newscentraltv   Instagram:   / newscentraltv   LinkedIn:   / feed   Threads: https://www.threads.net/@newscentraltv TikTok:   / newscentraltv   WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va4T...
