There will be more updates on the aircraft later. The AFA (Adaptive Frequency Array) radar works by manually switching between the 4 low frequency and single high frequency radar. This is not for military use, though It can be modified for such roles. During high speed flight, the pilot will need a longer time to react to obstacles in the flight path. During this, the radar powers the 4 low frequency antennas. These have a longer detection range, but are less accurate. During slower speed flight, or takeoffs and landings, the pilot can have enough time to react to obstacles ahead. During these scenarios, the pilot may switch to the high frequency antenna. The high frequency antenna has significantly better accuracy, but is prone to being disrupted from the atmosphere or clouds, thus having a shorter detection range. This capability gives the radar its name, the Adaptive Frequency Array radar, AKA the AFA radar.
