Parks Along the Timucuan Trail

I rode my ebike from Mayport to Amelia Island. I parked at the little jetties near Helen Cooper Floyd Park. First thing I did was cross the St. Johns River on the ferry. Then rode along the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway to stop at Huguenot Memorial Park. I watched some birds, checked the tide pools, and climbed up on the jetty. From up there I spotted manatees and sea turtles. The bike path then took me over the Fort George River at the Fort George Inlet. I than made a quick stop at Little Talbot Island State Park. Here I found a starfish getting stranded by the tide. I carried it to the water then filmed a few pelicans fly by. Once back on the my bike, I rode over Simpson Creek and into Big Talbot Island State Park. I hiked out to a driftwood beach along the black rock beach trail. There were a few crabs hanging out amongst the rocks, and at this point I could see my final destination across Nassau Sound. First I continued the jungle like bike ride through the woods until I arrived at the spoonbill pond boardwalk. The time, season, and tide wasn't optimum but I still founds some waterfowl to film. Back on the bike I pedaled over another bridge, this time over the Nassau River. Once I reached Amelia Island State Park and George Crady Bridge Fishing Pier State Park, I took in some river and ocean views before heading back south. On the return trip I checked out a few more parks. Specifically Fort George Island Cultural State Park and The Kingsley Plantation which is ran by the National Park Service.
