Welcome to the spectacular STADT UND LAND Festival der Riesendrachen, one of Berlin’s most colorful and impressive family events! In 2026, the 13th edition of the Festival der Riesendrachen took place on 12 September 2026 at Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin, transforming the sky into a giant stage filled with thousands of colorful kites. (Stadt und Land⁠) 🪁 A Little History The festival has been organized by STADT UND LAND every year since 2014. What started as an idea to bring people from different parts of Berlin together has grown into one of the city’s most popular family festivals, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year. (Stadt und Land⁠) 🌈 What Makes It Special? In 2026, more than 2,000 kites were expected in the sky, with around 75 professional kite pilots and 32 teams from Germany and abroad taking part. Many of the giant kites are handmade and designed as spectacular animals, fantasy creatures, superheroes, comic characters and other imaginative figures. (Stadt und Land⁠) Some of these giant creations can reach up to around 50 meters in size and require considerable skill to fly, especially when the wind is challenging. Visitors can watch professional kite performances, bring and fly their own kites in designated areas, enjoy live music, food and drinks, and take part in activities for children.
