"Spirits Over The Horizon" is a fanmade name for the era between Donda: With Child (the scrapped Kanye album with the orange cover art that was supposed to release in 2020) and the released version of Donda. I thought they both detracted from the song. Did some light EQ to the synth bend and turned it up a bit. Removed a lot of the low-mids from the 2nd synth bend melody and added a slight compressor to it. Slightly lowered the low end and raised the high end of both the bridge synths, and compressed them together. Removed a lot of bass and extra high end from Stalone’s choir vocals, in addition to turning them down and adding a stereo enhancer. Raised around the 50Hz area of the bassline and turned it up a bit. Took both kicks and compressed them together before adding an intense soft clipper to make them hit really hard. Also raised the super, super sub frequencies of them just a bit. Adjusted the volume of all the hat sounds, mainly lowering the 2nd hat and raising the open hat. Removed a lot of low end from both snares, moreso from the bigger snare, and then slightly compressed them together. Compressed the African drum loop and did a big cut around 150Hz. Lowered the Dem Jointz intro’s low end a LOT, in addition to slightly raising some of the mids and lowering some of the super high end. Also added a harsh distortion on it so that the lofi sound worked better. Slightly lowered Ye’s low end, compressed his vocals, de-essed them, did some further cuts to the high end, and removed problem frequency around 1.3kHz. Lowered the volume of the call and response and “rock” stems a lot. Added a harmony engine vocoder to Ye’s vocals during the bridge, the “me and North are aliens” line, and the final “run, fast” repetition of the song. Doubled the outro’s length and added in the Dem Jointz intro to the outro as well. Mastered to match typical streaming volume.
