Our Rathtrevor Beach Arrival Was A Mess — Then The Ocean Vanished | Parksville BC

We did NOT get the early start we planned at Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park in Parksville, BC. Liz left first in the van, I followed in the car — convoy style — to try and grab a site at Rathtrevor Beach. We arrived later than we wanted to Sites 78/79, so we kept it simple on Day 1: just the van and gazebo setup, then straight to the BBQ. What we cooked: BBQ Shepherd's Pie on the camp grill for dinner, coffee in the morning, and fire roasted meatloaf to end the day. Simple camping food that hits after a long drive. What we did: Morning high tide walk on Rathtrevor Beach, then back out at low tide when the ocean disappears almost 1 KILOMETER. That Rathtrevor low tide is insane — seaweed, driftwood, sandbars for days. It was super windy so we didn't stay long, but you have to see how far the water goes out.
