Five days. One remote lake. No roads. We flew deep into the Canadian wilderness for five days of fishing, camping, exploring, and a whole lot of time away from the ordinary. This is the complete story of our fly-in fishing trip to remote Ontario with Jackson as he continues working through the Stronger Boy Way patches—and learning a bunch of things that can’t really be taught in a classroom. Over the course of five days, we chased pike, largemouth, and smallmouth bass. Jackson learned to tie fishing knots, clean and cook his own catch, build and cook over a fire, navigate the wilderness, portage, and take another step toward becoming more independent. But the fishing is only part of the story. There were long boat rides, cold lake water, fireside conversations, unexpected adventures, a few laughs, and irreplaceable time a father cherishes with his son before he grows up and flies off.
