I. [EN] An epic historical metal track in the style of Sabaton, set in an alternative 3rd century (243 AD). The story follows the fierce Battle of Resaina, where the young Emperor Gordian III leads a desperate cavalry charge through a hail of arrows. The unbreakable Roman legions stand as an "iron ridge," sending the war elephants and heavy cavalry of Persian King Shapur I into a panicked, crushing retreat. Like a heavy serpent across the womb of the earth, The cavalry crawls in forged iron armor. The infantry marched, and like a grey wall of shields, The massive war elephants moved swiftly forward. But the legions stood as a stern, iron ridge, Ready to hold the onslaught of the terrible wave. (Verse 2) Suddenly, the sharp blast of a trumpet sounded — The Roman cavalry rushed into a fierce counter-attack. But their formation was broken at the start of the struggle, Their ranks scattered before entering the fray. Only thirty horsemen charge straight through the storm, The imperial armor flashes before the Persian lines. They turned their horses back toward their own men, Leaving the fallen in plain sight of everyone. (Verse 3) Gordian gallops through a dense cloud of arrows, His stallion is wounded, blood on the white hide. He managed to break out, he remained alive, As the wall of shields stood even tighter ahead. The enemy grinned, but before them stood a barrier — A palisade of sharp stakes rose before the heavy line. The Persian wedge crashed into it at full speed, Their cavalry was crushed by the furious battle. (Verse 4) The neighing of horses on the sharp wooden stakes Drowns out the human, soul-tearing screams. The rear ranks, caught in frantic, agonizing pain, Trample their own frontlines trapped in a dead end. In a violent panic, the massive war elephants Trample their own formation under heavy hooves. The legionaries strike the frightened beasts with spears, So this green meadow would be soaked in enemy blood. (Verse 5) Roman pilums fly out from the iron ranks, Overthrowing the tyrant who deemed himself a king. King Shapur fled under the whispers of his wise magi, Promising to wash this heavy shame away later. "Whoever rules this dance last — is the one who is right, Everything else is just bitter, fleeting smoke." The honor of Rome broke the barbaric spirit, The gods look down from the heavens and are proud of it!
