Maura finally decides to put all those skills she's been building to good use and starts upgrading everything around the houseboat to Unbreakable after one too many visits from the repairman. What sounds simple quickly turns into a multi day project as she works her way through one broken object after another. Lucas has a big moment of his own with an award ceremony at school where he receives multiple awards for his afterschool activities. Derrick proudly attends, while Maura stays behind at the houseboat trying to keep everything from falling apart. Of course Lucas can’t stay out of trouble for long. Not long after collecting his awards, he pulls a massive prank at school and releases 50,000 frogs inside the building. Meanwhile, Derrick finally reaches the top of the Political career and becomes Leader of the Free World. After all that climbing, campaigning, and asking for donations, the moment arrives almost matter of factly. He celebrates by leading a protest about Yetis in the park across the street from City Hall. With his career finally complete, Derrick decides it’s time to make another part of his life official. After years of history between them, he and Dominique quietly marry in a private ceremony at the houseboat. No huge wedding, no giant spectacle. Just the two of them finally doing what has been building for years. Now officially part of the family, Dominique gives herself a new look for her new role, dyes her hair, updates her wardrobe, and retires from her career as she settles into life alongside the Leader of the Free World. After all these years, Derrick and Dominique are finally husband and wife. Not every major life event comes with a huge celebration. Sometimes the moments you wait years for arrive quietly, almost casually, and life just keeps moving.
