Saturday's session at Adelaide turned qualifying on its head, as Ayrton Senna hit back in dramatic fashion. 📌 Visit our Racing & Beyond Blog for more stories: https://racingbeyond.com/ After finishing Friday second to teammate Alain Prost, Senna found well over half a second on his final runs to post a 1:16.665, snatching back pole position and reasserting McLaren-Honda's usual order heading into the season finale. Prost, unable to improve on his Friday time of 1:17.403, had to settle for second on the grid. Behind the two McLarens, Pierluigi Martini once again impressed in the Minardi, edging into third ahead of Alessandro Nannini's Benetton and Thierry Boutsen's Williams-Renault, with Riccardo Patrese rounding out the top six. Nigel Mansell could only manage seventh for Ferrari, a disappointing return given his position in the championship battle, while teammate Gerhard Berger struggled even further back after a difficult weekend for the Scuderia. With the grid now finalized and Senna back on pole for the last race of a turbulent season, all attention turned to whether the weather forecast for Sunday would hold, or throw one final complication into an already dramatic year. 📌 If you’re passionate about untold racing stories, forgotten heroes, and iconic Grand Prix moments that shaped the sport, please, consider subscribing to the channel, so you don’t miss future content.
