The Beatles - I Want to Hold Your Hand (Drum Cover) | Ringo Starr

A faithful drum cover of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles, recreating Ringo Starr’s original drum performance from 1963. For this performance, I used the original recording as the main reference, focusing on Ringo’s feel, dynamics, accents, fills and rhythmic phrasing. The video features two camera angles: a full performance view and a close-up view of the drums, allowing you to follow and study the drum part in greater detail. “I Want to Hold Your Hand” was written primarily by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and recorded by The Beatles at EMI Studios, Abbey Road, in London on 17 October 1963. The song was released as a single in the UK on 29 November 1963, backed by “This Boy”, and became one of The Beatles’ breakthrough records during the height of Beatlemania. It was later released in the United States on 26 December 1963. 🥁 ABOUT RINGO’S DRUMMING One of the things I find interesting about Ringo’s playing on “I Want to Hold Your Hand” is how effectively he supports the song without overcrowding it. The drum part is energetic and precise, but the performance remains focused on the groove and the song itself. For this cover, my goal was not simply to reproduce the notes. I tried to recreate the character of Ringo’s original performance — including his timing, dynamics, accents, fills and overall feel. The close-up camera is also intended to make the drum part easier to follow for drummers who want to study Ringo Starr’s playing. If you're a Beatles fan, a Ringo Starr fan, or a drummer interested in the way Ringo approached The Beatles’ music, I hope you enjoy this performance.
