The Beatles - Day Tripper (Drum Cover) | Ringo Starr

A faithful drum cover of “Day Tripper” by The Beatles, recreating Ringo Starr’s original drum performance from 1965. For this performance, I used the original recording as my main reference, focusing on Ringo’s feel, timing, dynamics, accents and fills. The video features two camera angles: a full performance view and a close-up view of the drums, allowing you to follow and study the drum part in greater detail. “Day Tripper” was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and recorded by The Beatles at EMI Studios, Abbey Road, in October 1965. It was released as a double A-side single alongside “We Can Work It Out” in December 1965. 🥁 ABOUT RINGO’S DRUMMING “Day Tripper” is a great example of Ringo Starr’s ability to create a powerful and consistent groove while complementing the other instruments. The driving rhythm, precise accents and carefully placed fills help maintain the song’s energy throughout the performance. Ringo’s playing supports the iconic guitar riff without ever overpowering it. For this cover, my goal was not simply to reproduce the notes. I tried to recreate the character of Ringo’s original performance — including his timing, dynamics, accents, fills and overall feel. The close-up camera is also intended to make the drum part easier to follow for drummers who want to study Ringo Starr’s playing and learn how he approached The Beatles’ music. If you're a Beatles fan, a Ringo Starr fan, or a drummer interested in the band's original recordings, I hope you enjoy this performance.
