We travel to Alaska in search of our future home. In part 1, we search the Kenai Peninsula starting with Homer, Anchor Point and smaller villages in the south half of the Peninsula. We also spend some time walking local beaches and enjoy the Homer Winter King Salmon Tournament. We travel roads and visit places you have seen in channels like Simple Living Alaska, ‪@Homesteadyshow‬, ‪@northtoalaska2022‬ and we do make light of some scenes from Adventures of A+K when they travelled Alaska. This is Danielle's first time to Alaska and Ryan's 2nd. Check out the old photos and stick around to the end for more Alaskan scenery. We’re Ryan and Danielle. We live on an 1870's homestead claim in a home built in 1892-93 that was most likely a kit home from a catalogue that many settlers ordered items from during that time. We still eat the heritage apples and pears that were planted and get our water from the original springs of the homestead. Follow along as we share our modern remote living homestead lifestyle and build upon our self sufficiency dreams while traveling and preparing for an early retirement. #alaska #homestead #moose #homer #kenai 00:00 – Starting Early 02:13 – Two Flights and Six Hours 05:00 – The Drive Begins: To the Kenai Peninsula 07:45 – Turnagain Pass 09:47 – Our 1st Moose 11:05 – Arriving on the Homer Spit 14:20 – Reaching Lands End 17:40 – Scouting Potential Land & Properties 20:30 – Off the Beaten Path: Snowmobiles & Remote Roads 23:10 – The Fixer-Upper Cabin 24:45 – Reflecting on Tree Density, Climate & Log Homes 26:40 – Church Renovation Memories & Beach Walk 28:35 – Local History, Artifacts & National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center 31:15 – Fishing Tournament Weigh-In & Wrap-Up
