There are lessons that exist outside the classroom, lessons about navigating adulthood, understanding yourself, building a career, discovering your purpose, handling failure, money, relationships, creativity, ambition, and simply trying to make something meaningful out of your life. These are the conversations that don't always come with a textbook, a lecture, or a qualification.
Street Wise Too creates a space for those conversations.
The idea behind the podcast is simple: being educated is important, but being wise about life is something you continue to learn through experience, curiosity, failure, observation, and the people you meet along the way.
The podcast began with a pilot episode, created as an opportunity to test the concept, the chemistry between the hosts, and the overall direction of the show. What started as an experiment quickly became something much bigger. The pilot demonstrated that there was genuine potential in bringing together honest, relaxed and sometimes unexpected conversations about the things that shape us as people.
At the centre of Street Wise Too is the belief that conversation itself can be a form of empowerment. By sharing experiences, perspectives and knowledge, we can learn from one another and perhaps discover things that we were never taught growing up.
THE HOSTS
The podcast is led by Katlego, the main host and author of Your Body Is Not Weak, You Might Be Wearing the Wrong Shoes. His perspective brings together curiosity, personal experience, literature and an interest in understanding the different ways people navigate life.
Alongside him is Remongwe, a visual artist whose work is deeply personal and rooted in his own artistic preferences and way of seeing the world. His approach to art is not simply about creating something visually appealing, but about expressing something personal through his chosen medium.
Together, their different backgrounds create an interesting dynamic. One comes from the world of writing and authorship, while the other comes from the world of visual art. Their conversations allow those perspectives to meet — creating room for different opinions, experiences and ways of understanding the world.
And that's what Street Wise Too is ultimately about: perspective.
WHERE THE PODCAST IS GOING
The pilot is only the beginning.
As the podcast develops, Street Wise Too aims to bring in guests from different fields, industries and walks of life. Each guest will bring their own form of knowledge to the conversation, whether they are an entrepreneur, artist, filmmaker, author, athlete, academic, professional, creative, business owner, or someone who has simply lived through an experience worth sharing.
The intention is not to create a podcast where every guest comes with the same perspective. Quite the opposite.
The goal is to create conversations where different people can sit down, share what they know, challenge each other's ideas, tell their stories and give listeners something to think about.
Some conversations may be serious.
Some may be funny.
Some may be uncomfortable.
Some may challenge what we think we already know.
But every conversation should leave you with something.
A new idea.
A different perspective.
A lesson.
A question.
Or perhaps even the motivation to approach your own life differently.
Street Wise Too is for the things we weren't necessarily taught in school, but still need to know to make it through life.
It's about learning from people, learning from experience and learning from the world around us.
It's about figuring things out together.
This is Street Wise Too.
The conversations beyond the classroom.
The lessons beyond the textbook.
The wisdom we pick up along the way.
