Strathblane to Kilsyth, Scotland Day 3 of 10 started off early again. I was up at 5, unable to sleep later. Enjoyed 2 cups of coffee, before getting ready and hitting the road at 7 am. Another beautiful, cool morning on a nice paved trail through more cow and sheep pastures. The first 6.5 miles went quickly. I arrived at The Fells Cafe 30 minutes before they opened. I sat on a nearby bench to wait. Once they opened, I ordered a coffee and a BLT on gluten free bread. Back on the path, I had a nice shady walk for a few more miles before leaving that trail, walking through part of a town and then onto the Forth and Clyde Canal path. This was very busy with walkers and cyclists. At around mile 11, I left the canal path and started the mile climb up to Bar Hill, where there had been a Roman fort. I wondered around up there for a while, trying to find the correct way down. A nice local woman pointed out an easier path then the one I started down on, which I was thankful for! I forgot I had over a mile off the official path to get to my hotel! Found a very cool coffee house that seemed out of place in such a small town. I enjoyed an iced late before heading to my hotel and then to the grocery store. The proposed 13 mile day turned out to be closer to 16 miles.
