Our journey begins in the Denver metropolitan area, where we'll head north on Interstate 25 with the Rocky Mountains rising to the west and the expansive plains stretching out to the east. Along the way, we'll travel through northern Colorado, passing communities along the Front Range as we make our way toward the Wyoming state line. As we continue north, we'll pass through the growing communities of northern Colorado, including the Loveland and Fort Collins areas. We'll also make a stop at Buc-ee's in Johnstown, one of the largest travel centers in the region and a popular destination for travelers along Interstate 25. Beyond Fort Collins, the landscape begins to change as the cities and suburbs give way to rolling grasslands, open prairie, and distant mountain views. Approaching the Wyoming border, we'll experience the wide-open scenery that makes this part of the American West so distinctive. Crossing into Wyoming, we'll officially enter the Equality State and continue north toward Cheyenne, Wyoming's capital city. Situated on the High Plains at an elevation of more than 6,000 feet, Cheyenne has a rich history tied to the railroad, the American frontier, and the development of the West. From the busy highways of Denver to the open landscapes of southern Wyoming, this drive offers a fascinating look at the changing scenery and communities along the northern Colorado Front Range and Interstate 25. This journey also brings us another step closer to home after thousands of miles exploring the American West. From Cheyenne, our next adventure will take us east along Interstate 80 as we continue our journey back toward Chicago.
