Boring Bible Genealogies for Sleep | The Whole Line from Adam to Jesus

The King James Bible keeps a long line of names from Adam to Jesus, and almost no one has heard it read from the first name to the last. This recording reads that line in order, in the King James wording, together with the lists that branch away from it and come back: the ten names from Adam to Noah, the sons of Noah, Shem to Abram, the sons of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, those who went down into Egypt, the families counted in Numbers, the great compiled list in the first book of the Chronicles, the ten names that lead to David in Ruth, the sons and kings of David, and then the two lists in the Gospels: Matthew's three groups of fourteen and Luke's seventy seven names read back to Adam. All scripture is read from the King James Version, which is in the public domain. The title says boring, and it is meant as a plain description. A list of names has no plot. Several open questions are named and left open: who Joseph's father was (Jacob in Matthew, Heli in Luke), why Matthew's line goes by Solomon and Luke's by Nathan, why Luke has a name between Arphaxad and Sala that Genesis does not, how Matthew's three groups of fourteen are counted, and how the totals in Genesis 46 are made up. A meaning is given for a name only where the King James text itself gives one. Parts of Numbers 26 and of 1 Chronicles 1 to 9 are read, and the recording says which parts are left out.
