HELIADA LEONTARIS | She Came to Australia and Never Looked Back

Born in Sklithro, Greece, Heliada Leontaris dreamed of becoming a teacher, but war and hardship changed the course of her life. Together with her husband Dimitris, she migrated to Australia, where she worked tirelessly, raised a family, and built a new life. Although Greece always remained in her heart, Australia became the place she truly called home. A moving story of migration, sacrifice, love, and belonging. This story is part of Our People, Their Stories, a project of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, produced and directed by Markellos Petropoulos.
