Episode 1362 Alf (Bryan Mosley) suspects that Len (Peter Adamson) has let the redevelopment plans slip. Ken (Bill Roache) turns down an invitation to dinner from Philip (Brian Miller) and Jill Barrett (Valerie Georgeson) because he dislikes Jill. Rita (Barbara Knox) feels guilty about getting Len into trouble. Ken suggests that Annie (Doris Speed) contact the brewery for information about the proposed redevelopment. Len defends his actions and tells the residents there is nothing they can do to stop the redevelopment. Annie reads a telegram for Betty (Betty Driver) containing a birthday message from Cyril (William Moore). As Ken begins preparing No.11 for the twins, he is told that Bessie Street School can’t take them so they will have to attend school at Regent’s Road. Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) organises an informal meeting at the community centre to discuss the redevelopment but Len refuses to attend. At the meeting, the residents decide that something must be done to save the street and the surrounding area. Janet (Judith Barker) phones Jill and asks her to send a brochure for the boarding school. Minnie (Margot Bryant) proposes that the residents form an action group to force Len into facing up to his responsibilities.
