HE FOUGHT 100 MEN AND SURVIVED?! | Berserk S1E14 “Bonfire of Dreams” | REACTION |

Berserk 1997 Episode 14 Reaction! Watching Berserk S1E14 “Bonfire of Dreams” for the first time - and after surviving one of the craziest fights in the series, Guts starts questioning what he actually wants from his life. In Berserk Episode 14, Guts finishes his brutal battle against an overwhelming number of soldiers, ultimately defeating around 100 men by himself while protecting Casca and buying her enough time to escape. It’s the fight that cements Guts as the legendary 100-Man Slayer. Casca manages to survive her own attackers and reunites with members of the Band of the Hawk before leading them back to Guts. When they finally find him, he is exhausted and badly injured - but alive after defeating the enemy force almost entirely on his own. Back at camp, the Hawks celebrate, but the episode becomes much more personal when Guts and Casca talk alone above the campfires. Looking down at the lights below, Guts explains that everyone around Griffith seems to have a dream of their own, while he feels like all he has ever done is swing his sword. That conversation makes it clear that Guts is beginning to think about finding a purpose that belongs to him - something separate from Griffith’s dream and the Band of the Hawk. Casca immediately realizes what that could mean and starts worrying that Guts may eventually leave them behind. This is my first time watching Berserk 1997, so this is a completely blind reaction to Berserk Episode 14 “Bonfire of Dreams.” Guts surviving the 100-man fight, Casca finally seeing him differently, the campfire conversation and Guts beginning to question his place beside Griffith made this one of the most important character episodes of the Golden Age Arc so far.
