Mestia to Ushguli: 67km of hiking in the Georgian Caucasus

From Mestia (the largest town), a popular 4-day through hike takes you to Ushguli, the most picturesque town in the region. You can stay at guesthouses along the way, or camp basically anywhere. You will meet again and again the same people along the way. I took my camping gear, but ended up staying at the guest houses, so I guess I can count it as extra training. Nights were a bit cold, rain was unpredictable, and I liked the evening group dinner athmosphere with total strangers. I added a fifth day in Ushguli, going up to the Glacier and back to town. I cannot highlight this enough- if you get to Ushguli, do this hike! I would even say: if you do not have much time, skip the section Iphrali to Ushguli (day 4 of the classic hike), ask a car to take you to Ushguli, and do the Glacier hike instead of this last day hike.
